First you'll need an IRC client, which is kind of like a web browser for IRC. If you don't want to download anything just yet, you can use our java client or our CGI client (whichever one suits your tastes better), or if you want a client you can download that has more features, then you should try one of the downloadable clients listed below.

How do I join a channel?

Once you've connected to the network, if you already know what channel you would like to join, you can type in this command:

/join #channel

Replace the word "#channel" with the name of the channel you want to join. For example, if you want to join #ecnet, type in /join #ecnet Here are some popular channels that might interest you:

  • #mipoio –
  • #ecnet –
  • #laserchat –
  • #sadie's_shack –
  • #intj –
  • #starlight –

If you want to see all of the channels you can join, when you've connected to the network, type in /list
