==Prohibited Behavior==
* Ban evasion, or attempting to bypass a ban set by a channel, a server, or the network, is not permitted.
* Engaging in illegal activities is strictly prohibited.
* Falsely claiming to be a network operator is not permitted.
* Flooding and denial of service attacks are not permitted.
* Ignore evasion, or intentionally evading an ignore mask set upon you by another user, is not permitted.
* Indiscriminately sending disruptive messages to multiple channels or users (spamming) is not allowed.
* Harassment, which is repetitive, offensive behavior towards one or more users, is not permitted.
* Releasing personally identifiable information of others without permission or of anyone under the age of 13 is not allowed.
* Allowing your bots or scripts to break one of the rules above is not allowed.

==Bots and Scripts==
Anyone may run bots and scripts for anyone reason, as long as the bots and scripts do not adversely affect the network. Users may run up to three bots each, but may run more with the approval of a network operator. Anyone who runs a bot or script is held accountable for what that script does and should not run any unknown script without first making sure that it does what it is supposed to do.

The following bots and scripts may not be used without the approval of a network operator.

* CentralFLU
* XDCC

==Channels==
Anyone may create and register any kind of channel that abides by these rules. Channel owners have full authority over their channels, and they may appoint users to help them manage their channels or remove a user's access to a channel at their discretion. Channel owners may also choose what types of behavior are allowed and not allowed in their channels as they see fit. However, if a channel allows adult-only content, such as exchanging pornographic links or cybersex, the channel must have a clear warning in the topic noting that the channel is for adults-only.

==Enforcement==
===Channel Violations===
The network staff does not get involved in channel matters except when necessary to enforce the network rules. Therefore, network operators should be considered no different from normal users, and may be kicked, muted, banned, or even appointed into a channel staff at the discretion of the channel's owner. If a network operator uses his powers to overstep his authority, please contact the [[oper abuse committee]] as soon as possible.

===Network Violations===
Violations of these network rules will be dealt with by the network staff. Penalties will be based on whether a user's actions were intentional or negligent, whether or not the user was warned against similar behavior or other prohibited behaviors in the past, and how the behavior affected other users and the network. Typical penalties include formal warnings, restrictions on network use, or bans from the network.

Keep in mind that these penalties are used to prevent the disruption of our network, not to punish users.

===Appealing===
If someone believes that a network operator's action was unfair, he should discuss it with the acting operator, if possible. If the user isn't satisfied with his decision, he may discuss the matter with the [[Staff|operator's administrator]] or appeal the decision to the [[Committees#Appeals Team|appeals committee]].
